We invite hands-on demos of force-feedback Haptic Musical Artifacts (HMAs) to be experienced in person at the NIME 2026 HMA Workshop.

Potential participants should submit an abstract (1 page) using the NIME paper template.

Each abstract should describe and critique at least one contribution and walk readers through the proposed workshop demo.

Potential contributions include, but are not limited to, new works or previously published work, at NIME or related venues. We also welcome replications of own or third-party artifacts.

We welcome participants at all career levels, including graduate students and junior researchers. We encourage applications from participants from communities under-represented in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields. We aim at increasing the participation from groups traditionally underrepresented in HMA-related fields (including but not limited to: women, 2SLGBTQ+, underrepresented minorities, and people with disabilities).

Organizers will accept up to 5 submissions to maximize interactions during the event. We require at least one author of each accepted submission to be present in person and register for the workshop through the NIME registration page.

Accepted submissions will be archived in the NIME Zenodo repository.
